Action Research Course

Date: 15 – 16 July 2010

Place: WPKL State Education Office

Time: 8a.m. – 4 p.m.

Target Group: All English language Master Teachers

Objective: Teachers use the Action Research methodology to

I. reflect upon and evolve their teaching styles,

II. document one aspect of their teaching style to gain efficacy of their pedagogy as well as the students’ learning styles, and

III. share research finding among fellow practitioners , thus increasing professional skills.

Summary of Activities:

1. Course participants were introduced to the following areas of Action Research by guest lecturer – Puan Leeladevi Balakrishnan:

a. Choosing a research question

b. Deciding nature of information needed in collecting the necessary information and how it will be collected

c. Analysis of data

d. Organization and write up of data and results

e. To incorporate results of research into classroom practice

2. Teachers were able to present their research question and explain intended course of work which will be handed in to the ELO at a prescribed date.

Achievement

1. Teachers were able to convey their methodologies successfully via power point presentations.
